How we pick

Threshold exists for one reason: buying tools, appliances and home upgrades online is harder than it should be. Search results are crowded with sponsored listings, recycled "best of" lists and reviews of questionable origin. We try to cut through that.

How we choose products

• We start with the job, not the product. Every category is organised around what people actually need to get done in that room.
• We research widely. Manufacturer specifications, long-term owner feedback, warranty terms, parts availability in Canada, and guidance from trade and consumer sources.
• We favour proven products. Brands with good support and a long track record rank above brand-new names with no history.
• We say who each pick is for. The "best" drill for a renter isn't the best drill for someone building a deck.

What we don't do

• We don't claim to have hands-on tested every product listed. Where we recommend something, it's based on the research above.
• We don't publish testimonials, star ratings or prices of our own. Amazon.ca shows current prices and verified reviews.
• We don't sell placement. No brand can pay to be included or ranked higher.
